
Alexander (Sandy) J. Macnab, Jr., 81, passed away December 18, 2002. He is survived by his wife of seventeen years, Barbara Kocsisovszky Sanchez; daughter, Margaret Lea Macnab and grandchildren, Sommer Smith and Evan Smith of Sandia Park, New Mexico; sister, Jane Macnab Christian of New Mexico; and step-children, Pamela Roper Wagner, Kimberly Roper Flannery, Gabor Szepesi and George Szepesi, numerous granchildren and extended family. Preceding Alexander in death were his parents, Alexander J. Macnab Sr. and Maude Gordon Macnab, and son, Alexander Jesse (Jess) Macnab III.
Born in San Antonio, Texas on July 27, 1921, Sandy completed High School in Iolani, Hawaii, and attended Texas A & M University majoring in architecture. He saw active duty in Word War II as a U.S. Army Captain, where he sustained injuries while serving in Europe. After completing his architecture studies in 1955 with a Bachelor of Architecture at the University of Houston, Alexander practiced architecture as a profession until his death, being instrumental in the design of many buildings in Houston and Santa Fe, New Mexico, as well as serving as a lecturer in the School of Architecture at the University of Houston. As an English scholar he taught at Houston Community College; he was a published poet and was active in various poetry groups. Further artistic activities included the medium of watercolor; he served as a Director of the Houston Archeological Society. He created Jikkawm, the game of world economies, politics and cultures.
Sandy will be missed and his memory cherished by family and friends.
